Limassol Marathon Cyprus
great success on all levels
On Sunday 28th February 2010, The Limassol International Marathon took place with great success on all levels, with over 1,400 participants across all 6 races (Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K Health Run, Kids Fun Run 2K & Charity Walks 2K & 10K) and charity donations beyond our expectations.
Mr. Spyros Spyrou Municipal Council Member and Managing Director of the Marathon Organisation Team were absolutely delighted with the above results and also the number of Visitors and Tourists that attended the event.
In addition there was 17 Reporters from abroad that attended and gave very good comments about the organization of the first Limassol International Marathon by Olympus Events Management.
General acceptance by the Mayor of Limassol, President of CTO, President of GSO, Mr. Spyrou and everyone else that was involved in the Marathon, was given in order to make the Limassol International Marathon one of the biggest Marathon Events in Europe going forward.
A new personal record was also set by the winner Mr. Moses Kibet from Kenya with a recorded time of 2hrs 13mins and 29secs.
One of the big surprises that the Organising Team experienced was the participation of Mr. Paul Tergat from Kenya who is a living legend of long distance running and ex Olympic World Record holder of the Full Marathon, Half Marathon & also 10K events.
This very special guest also awarded the winners with their trophies and happily posed for photographs with the many athletes and spectators that attended.
