Pacing team confirmed for 2019 OPAP Limassol Marathon

Join our Pacing team and break your personal best!

The announcement follows the success and positive feedback from the 2018 event and will come as welcome news to the thousands of runners set to #RunLimassol next spring. The pacers will be helping runners to hit their targets in both the AIMS-accredited OPAP Limassol Marathon and Limassol Half Marathon, whilst also providing a fun social experience throughout each race.

Experienced pacer Paul Addicott, who manages his own blog pickupthepacepaul.com and regularly paces at races worldwide, will once again be leading the pacing team in Limassol and pacing the sub 4-hour group himself. Paul is an established pacer at the Virgin Money London Marathon and in 2018 alone he has paced the BMW Berlin Marathon, Bank of America Chicago Marathon, Simplyhealth Great North Run, Royal Parks Half Marathon, Shrewsbury Half Marathon and many more. He has helped hundreds of runners to cross the finish line with a smile on their face, having achieved their expected time and benefited from his experience and race knowledge.

The 2019 OPAP Limassol Marathon will be Paul’s third time in Limassol, having earned his first medal at the 2017 event. Rating the event as one of his all-time favourite races, Paul is looking forward to helping runners achieve their own PBs – which is common-place on Limassol’s flat and fast course – whilst making the most of the climate and scenery to enjoy a mini-break away with his family.

Paul’s pacing team includes some friendly faces from 2018, with Phil and Emma returning to pace the half marathon and Beppe and Matt the full marathon. The team will also welcome some fantastic new pacers for 2019 including Camilla and Jacqueline (pictured below), who hold the world record for being the first mother and daughter to run 100 marathons together. Together the pacers will form a first-class ‘Pick up the Pace’ team and play a key role in helping other runners achieve their goals at OPAP Limassol Marathon .

The race pacing team will cover the following times in the Marathon: 3:30, 3:45, 4.00, 4.15, 4.30, 4.45 and 5.00 hours. Target times covered in the Half Marathon will be: 1:30, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15 and 2:30. Paul himself will be pacing the sub 4-hour marathon group.

The confirmation of pacers is expected to be a great incentive both to new runners taking on their first race as well as serious runners aiming for a PB at OPAP Limassol Marathon .

Paul Addicott commented, “I am delighted to be returning to Limassol in 2019 and it is a huge privilege to be leading the pacing team once more. I am proud to have an incredible team of pacers who will be supporting runners the whole way round, helping them to achieve their goals and providing the very best race experience. Limassol is one of my favourite places to run, with a spectacular course, magnificent views and an incredible atmosphere, and I can’t wait to be back leading the sub-4 #funbus!”

OPAP Limassol Marathon Race Director Andreas Spyrou added: “We are thrilled to confirm that Paul Addicott will be heading up our pacing team for the second year running at OPAP Limassol Marathon . We received fantastic feedback following the 2018 event from runners who had really benefited from the addition of a pacing team, and we hope that many more runners will achieve their goals alongside our pacers in 2019.”

The 2019 OPAP Limassol Marathon takes place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th March.

Entry fees are as follows: Marathon €60, Half Marathon €45, Petrolina 10K Energy Race €30, 5K City Race €30.
