OPAP Limassol Marathon nominated in The Challenge Awards

It has been confirmed that OPAP Limassol Marathon has been nominated in The Challenge Awards powered by Let’s Do This and presented by Runner’s World.

OPAP Limassol Marathon has been nominated in the Best International Running Events category alongside other key international marathons such as the TCS New York City Marathon, BAA Boston Marathon and Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

The Challenge Awards aim to recognise the best challenge events, organisations, charities, communities and individuals, relying entirely on the public to choose the best across each category.

Over the last year, thousands of event attendees have submitted reviews on Let’s Do This, from 5K fun runs to ultra marathons and full-distance triathlons. The top-rated events have been nominated for the voting stage of The Challenge Awards and voting opened on Monday 19th August.

The Challenge Awards will culminate in a glittering awards ceremony at the prestigious Queens Club in London’s West Kensington, on Friday 18th October 2019.

The event will be supported and attended by some of the most decorated sports men and women in the UK. The exciting line-up includes Paralympic gold medallists Sarah Storey and Tanni Grey Thompson, former marathon world champion Paula Radcliffe, international rugby star Lawrence Dallaglio and football star Rio Ferdinand.

The Challenge Awards are supported by Runner’s World, Women’s Health, Men’s Health and Eventrac.

OPAP Limassol Marathon takes place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March 2020. One of Europe’s most recognised sporting events, it is well known for its flat and fast course, spectacular setting, views of the sparkling Mediterranean, beautiful climate, friendly atmosphere and first-class hospitality.

Anyone who leaves a vote in The Challenge Awards is entered into a prize draw to win a ticket for the awards ceremony at Queens Club in October. OPAP Limassol Marathon is currently in 2nd position, with 17% of the votes for Best International Running Event. Voting closes at midnight on Sunday 15th September.

OPAP Limassol Marathon MD Andreas Spyrou commented: “We are thrilled that OPAP Limassol Marathon has been nominated in The Challenge Awards. We would like to thank all our runners who have left a review of their experience in Limassol, without which we would not have reached the final 20 in the category of Best International Running Event. We hope that our supporters will continue to vote for us over the next few weeks and that recognition at these prestigious awards will inspire people across the world to #RunLimassol.”
