The organisers of OPAP Limassol Marathon 2020 have announced their cooperation with AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings.
OPAP Limassol Marathon , taking place on 21st-22nd March 2020, has been confirmed as a qualifying race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group World Championships in 2021.
The spread of selected marathon events that are part of the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Rankings creates a truly global series over one year, giving runners aged 40 and over across the world the chance to be part of a new era of age group marathon running.
The qualifying period is from 13th October 2019 to 11th October 2020 (AbbottWMM Series XIII), starting and finishing at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. During this time, participants can earn up to two qualifying times and a place at the AbbottWWM Wanda Age Group World Championships.
Participants in an AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Ranking qualifying race, such as OPAP Limassol Marathon , will earn points according to their age, time and gender. The age group categories for men and women are: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+.
At the end of the series, 1,000 runners from the various qualifying races will be invited to the AbbottWMM Wanda Age Group World Championships, which will take place at either the Virgin Money London Marathon or BAA Boston Marathon 2021. It is a fantastic chance for top-ranked age groups athletes to gain recognition like never before and become part of the AbbottWMM community.
OPAP Limassol Marathon is well known for its flat and fast course along Limassol’s spectacular coastal road, meaning that athletes have a strong chance of achieving their targets and qualifying for the Championships.

Entry to OPAP Limassol Marathon on 21st-22nd March 2020 is open. An early bird 40% discount on fees is available until 31st October, as follows: Marathon €36 (full price €60), Half Marathon €27 (full price €45), Petrolina 10K Energy Race €18 (full price €30) and 5K City Race €18 (full price €30).
