The team of PINK MOUFLONS participates for the second consecutive year in the OPAP Limassol Marathon

Our team for the second year participates in the OPAP Limassol Marathon from the sea, accompanying the runners in an effort to raise awareness of the general public about breast cancer. This year our effort will be strengthened by the Europa Donna Association with the participation of their members.

We are a newly formed Dragon Boat Association, Cyprus Mouflons Paddlesports, which is part of in the Cyprus Dragon Boat Federation. Our Body has two teams, the Pink Mouflons: New Cancer Survivors and Supporters Dragon Boat Team and the Raging Mouflons team. Dragon Boating is a water sport, which started in China 2.5 thousand years ago as part of various religious and traditional ceremonies. It is carried out with the help of wooden boats of different designs and sizes. Within the next 10 years, other countries from all over the world (Asia, Europe, Canada, Australia) began to organize Festivals modeled on the Hong Kong model. These Festivals helped the development of the sport with the creation of Sports Clubs in the late 80's. & Nbsp;

This sport started to develop in Cyprus recently decade and specifically in Limassol. Today there are three organized Associations. Recently it was announced the creation of a fourth Association, ours. & Nbsp;

Every year the Cyprus Federation organizes a number of international and local Games / Festivals with the aim of cultivating both of the competitive spirit in the context of the championship, as well as the cultivation of the charitable spirit.

Many companies from all over Cyprus use this sport in order to cultivate a spirit of cooperation between of their employees (Team Building).
In addition to championships Dragon Boating is offered for:
Stress relief
Wellness (physical condition - rehabilitation after surgery)
Encouragement: no one is alone on their way to Ithaca (fight of any kind) & nbsp;

In the sport of Dragon Boat the reference to the Pink Ladies refers to this special category of women who have had breast cancer. In 1998 the Canadian Athlete Don McKenzie in an article in the scientific journal of the Canadian Medical Association referred to the findings of his research, which showed that the intense activity of the upper body combined with the aesthetically pleasing and socially supportive environment in which Dragon Boat has a positive effect on the postoperative rehabilitation of women who have had breast cancer. & nbsp;

With the cooperation of EUROPA DONNA Cyprus we have managed to reach women with cancer experience breast and make the Pink Mouflons team. The aim of this effort is to establish an annual celebration through which the general population is made aware of breast cancer and to give the opportunity to both women who have passed and are undergoing breast cancer, as well as to their friends / relatives, to have the experience of this sport in order to:

Adopt a healthy lifestyle
Incorporate action into their lives
To strengthen physically and psychologically in all stages of their path to recovery. & nbsp;

At the same time, our great goal is the participation of our team in competitions and festivals both in Cyprus and abroad. & nbsp; & nbsp;
The Pink Mouflons team participated & nbsp; at the 10th International Dragon Doat Festival, which took place in Cyprus on April 21, 2018, under the auspices of the Cyprus Dragon Boat Federation, together with a team of International Pink Sisters. & nbsp;
On February 20, 2020 the Pink Mouflons : New Cancer Survivors and Supporters Dragon Boat Team will take part in races in Israel in collaboration with the respective Israeli team of Pink lionesses Israel.
On March 22-23, 2019 we took part & nbsp; in the 13th Marathon & nbsp; Limassol OPAP- accompanying the runners from the sea.

The experience was amazing and thank you for giving us the opportunity to participate in this way.
