The OPAP Limassol Marathon presents its first Virtual Edition, which is to take place all over the world, from the 21st of November until the 12th of December 2020. 

Within these two weeks, all registered runners to the November 2020 and March 2021 OPAP Limassol Marathon events*, will have the chance to run the race of their choice by completing the relevant amount of KMs and receive**:

1. Official Race Medal

2. Official Race Diploma

3. Official Race BIB-Number

4. Official Virtual Race Time

In order to be able to run the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Race simply register here. For our already registered runners, the Virtual Race is completely FREE. For new runners, the registration fee will be €10, which will be donated to the Karaiskakio Foundation.

The Virtual OPAP Limassol Marathon is a perfect opportunity to keep the spirit of our running community burning through these very challenging times! Furthermore, through the Virtual OPAP Limassol Marathon, together we will launch the largest charitable campaign ever organized by the Cyprus running community.

*The events got differed and merged into one event to take place on the 27th and 28th of November 2021.

**The runners will incur any potential delivery costs.

1. What is the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Run?

The OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Run is an international running event in which you may run the distance you’ve registered for anywhere around the world, with whatever pace, indoors or outdoors, on any day during the active period of the run.

The available distances are: 

- The Marathon Race (42,195 KM)

- The Muskita Half Marathon Race (21,0975 KM)

- The Petrolina 10 KM Race 

- The Medochemie 5 KM Race

- The PrimeTel 5 KM Corporate Race

2. How do I enter OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Race?

a. For all our runners that have registered in the OPAP Limassol Marathon events, which have been deferred to November 2021, the registration to the Virtual Race is FREE

The only step necessary is to validate your details and participation here.

Your registration to the event that has been moved to November 2021 is valid whether you run the Virtual Race or not.

b. If you are a new runner, then please register here for €10.


3. How do I run the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Race?

- You need to run the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Race within the active time period of the event (21st of November – 12th of December).

- You are allowed to run the distance as many times as you like but you can only send your result once. That result will be verified and approved.

- You are allowed to run at any pace, indoors or outdoors, at any terrain – basically as you like -. This is a virtual event. What we need from you is a screenshot of your run, proving that you have run the relevant distance.

- Our validation process recognizes the following tracking applications:

a. Garmin 

b. Apple 

c. Suunto

d. Polar

e. Strava

f. Map My Run

g. Nike App

Or any other GPS Tracking Device.

- The screenshot must be sent to virtual@limassolmarathon.com and will be accepted or rejected within 3 days. 

- With your registration, you agree to the Terms and Conditions of the event.


4. Is there a time limit?

The cut-off time for all individual races is 6 hours.


5. What will I receive If I complete the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Run?

1. Official Race Medal

2. Official Race Diploma

3. Official Race BIB-Number

4. Official Virtual Race Time


6. Is there a deadline to register?

The last day to register for the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Run is the 12 of December 2020.


7. If I run the virtual OPAP Limassol Marathon, can I still defer my place?

Yes, you can. Despite your participation in the Virtual Run, your entry has been automatically transferred to the November 2021 event.


8. Can I run the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Run if I was not registered in the Limassol Marathon November 2020 event or March 2021 event?

New entries can register to the event by visiting the Limassol Marathon platform. The entry fee is €10 and the full amount will be donated to the Karaiskakio Foundation.


9. If I register as a new entry, am I eligible to participate at the OPAP Limassol Marathon 2021 event?

No, your participation in the Virtual Run is exclusive to that specific event. With your registration to the Virtual Run, however, you will receive a 50% discount voucher for the OPAP Limassol Marathon event scheduled for November 2021.


10. My team is registered for the PrimeTel 5km Corporate Race, how can we participate in the Virtual Run?

Corporate teams can also take part in the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Run. In order to participate in the PrimeTel 5km Virtual Run, each team is required to register a minimum of 3 runners. 

Once the runners complete the distance of 5KM each, they will have to send to us screenshots of their results from a GPS Tracking Application. 
We will take the average time of your runners and validate it as the official time of your team.


11. What will the team receive if they complete the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Run?

- Finisher medals for all the participants of the team.

- Finisher diploma for the team.

- BIB Numbers for the runners of the team who will run and complete the distance. 

- Official finish time for the team


12. Will there be official results from the OPAP Limassol Marathon Virtual Run?

Yes, results and final ranking will be announced after the event of the Virtual Run however the results cannot be used as a qualification for any international events. For the PrimeTel 5km Corporate Virtual Run, there will be a ranking for each team according to their average finish time.


13. Can I complete my race distance over multiple days?

The distance must be completed within the six hours limit in one race on one single day between the active period of the Virtual Run.
